Following on from the massive outbreak of ransomware throughout Europe last week, which saw serious disruption within several large organisations, we wanted to reach out to you to help make sure that your IT network is prepared for a cyber-attack. We will tell you how we keep our customers safe and secure, but is your business following these vital safety measures?
CCS’ technical team monitor all the systems we look after on our integrated monitoring system. If the system flags suspicious activity on a monitored computer then we investigate, and take appropriate action to remedy the problem. The monitoring system looks at your computer’s health and if it spots unusual behaviour or unusual amounts of resources being used by the machine then it will flag it up for one of the team to examine. We check and evaluate new releases and patches, and apply them to your systems on a routine basis making sure you’re up-to-date with the latest protection.
CCS offer two different antivirus products, BitDefender and Sophos Endpoint Protection. These products provide enterprise grade protection that automatically identifies new malware threats and cleans them up or flags them to the team for further action.
In the interests of keeping ourselves at the forefront of cyber security, we are currently testing Sophos Intercept-X, a product which is designed to stop modern ransomware attacks before they have a chance to impact your data. Rather than examining hundreds and millions of known malware samples, Intercept-X instead focuses on the relatively small collection of techniques used by cyber criminals to spread ransomware, for example, it monitors file types that ransomware targets and looks for unusual behavioural patterns, preventing the processes from running before they can take hold. Having such a complex anti-malware software means we can ward off attacks without having even seen them, ensuring that your business is always kept safe and secure. We hope to roll the product out commercially in the coming weeks.
We also endeavour to make sure your emails are safe – we offer Symantec cloud protection which is a managed email filtering service.
CCS offer managed backup services with several different vendors to cover a wide range of customer data storage and retention requirements. The recovery service will ensure that if your business falls foul to a ransomware attack, then all your data will be restored from a secure source (either cloud or on premise) allowing your business to get back on its feet as quickly as possible.
If you would like advice or a free audit on your cyber-security, then please don’t hesitate to call CCS on 0191 511 1000. We will make sure that you are safe and secure.
